My Home Town

The city of Longmont is part of Boulder County and is located at the base of the Foothills and within 50 minutes of Rocky Mountain National Park. Boulder County is considered to be one of the best and healthiest places to live in the USA. For those who like the outdoors we have lots of hiking trails from easy to difficult, within minutes from our house. Wildlife abounds in the area and it is not un common to spot mule deer, elk, bears, mountain lions and big horn sheep in the higher elevations. For the more adventurous, there is mountain climbing and mountain biking in the summer. All the noted ski areas are within 1-1.5 hours from Boulder County. Boulder County is also famed for its extensive network of bike trails, where you can walk, ride, roller blade or skate board. You can rent 2 wheelers, 3 wheelers and tandem bikes nearby and explore the area easily. We are home to the University of Colorado where one can see the CU Buffs (our college football team) in the FAll, or see a Shakespeare play at the Mary Rippon outdoor theatre in the summer. You can catch a performance at the Colorado Music Festival or a cultural event at Macky Auditorium. Throughout the year the University offers music, dance and theatre performances. Naropa University is also located here and offers diverse courses and workshops in New Age and Buddhist traditions throughout the year. Every summer they invite reknowned writers and poets to their summer workshop program and offer readings to the public. Chautauqua Historic area offers hiking, picnicking and dining. Pearl Street is noted for its galleries, restaurants, shops and street entertainers. A trip to Pearl Street would not be complete without seeing the "Zip Code" Man! Denver is also close by if you are wanting more big city attractions, (Elitches Amusement Park, Denver Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Buell Theatre, Coors Field, home of the Rockies and the Museum of Nature and Science, etc. ) . For those of you who like to gamble there is Black Hawk and Central City, historical towns turned casinos. There's plenty of history in this area including ghost towns, abandoned mining towns, and lots of Old West history. Colorado is famous for its many hot springs for those who enjoying soaking in natural mineral water and Idaho Springs is located within 50 minutes of Longmont. There truly is something for everyone.
