Topsail Island is a 26 mile long barrier island approximately 25 minutes North of Wilmington. The island is located in both Onslow and Pender
counties and consists of three towns, North Topsail Beach, Surf City and Topsail Beach. The three mainland towns of Hampstead, Sneads Ferry and
Holly Ridge complete the greater Topsail Area.
There are two bridges that access Topsail Island- a swing bridge in Surf City and a high-rise bridge connecting Sneads Ferry to North Topsail
Beach. Topsails summer population swells during the busy time of year, up to about 40, 000 depending on the time of summer, compared to the 3,500 that make up our year-round population of residents. Being so near Jacksonville and Wilmington makes Topsail Island a desirable place to live. Residents enjoy relatively inexpensive living, and easy access to larger towns while being quietly nestled by natural beauty. Drawn here by unspeakable natural beauty, serenity, and history, Topsail Island offers an oasis to people from near and far. Museums, old missile towers and other structures stand the 26 miles long island, giving a glimpse into days long ago left behind.
